Bed Bug Elimination

Bed bugs spread fast and hide deep — we treat the whole harbourage, with a clear prep list and follow-up visits until they are gone.

Bed Bug Elimination — work carried out by our team

Bed bugs are the most stressful pest we treat, and the one where a rushed job costs the most. They hide in seams and voids, they survive months between meals, and a partial treatment simply spreads them into neighbouring rooms.

How to confirm it is bed bugs

Look at the bed itself before anything else:

  • Small dark spots along the mattress seam, box spring and bed frame — digested blood
  • Shed skins, translucent and insect-shaped, in folds and crevices
  • Live insects roughly the size and colour of an apple seed, flat before feeding
  • Blood spotting on sheets, especially near the edges of the mattress
  • Bites in lines or clusters on skin exposed while sleeping — suggestive, but never proof on their own

Check the headboard, the seams of the box spring, the joints of the frame and the edge of the carpet nearest the bed. That is where they are, not out in the open.

How they arrive

Almost always by travel, in luggage, or on second-hand furniture. They are not a hygiene problem and they turn up in spotless homes, hotels and new buildings. In multi-unit buildings they also move between units through wall voids and along utility runs, which is why the treatment plan has to consider adjoining units, not only the one that reported the problem.

How we treat them

  1. Inspection and scope. We confirm the species and find the harbourages. In an apartment or hotel that includes checking the units next door and above.
  2. Prep list. You get a written list before we treat. Laundering on high heat and clearing access is a real part of the outcome, not busywork.
  3. Treat the whole harbourage. Mattress, box spring, frame, baseboards, furniture joints and voids — not just where the bites happened.
  4. Follow-up visits. Timed to when eggs hatch. Built into the plan from the start.
  5. Confirm. We verify the room is clear rather than leaving you to wonder.

Treatments carry a written service guarantee.

Rentals, hotels and Airbnb

A bed bug report in a rental or a guest room is a business problem as much as a pest problem. We work with landlords and operators across Fredericton and Saint John, schedule around occupancy, keep the visit discreet, and document the treatment for your records. If you manage several units, tell us at the first call — treating one unit while its neighbours go unchecked is the most common reason a building keeps having outbreaks.

Common questions

How do I know it is bed bugs and not something else?

Bites in a line or cluster on skin exposed while sleeping are a hint, not proof, since people react very differently and some not at all. The reliable evidence is physical: small dark spots along the mattress seam and box spring, shed skins in the folds, and live insects about the size and colour of an apple seed hiding in seams, headboards and bed frames.

Should I throw out my mattress?

Usually not. Throwing out furniture spreads bed bugs through the building on the way to the curb and costs you money without solving anything, since the population is rarely confined to the mattress. If a piece genuinely cannot be treated we will say so, and tell you how to get it out of the building safely.

How many visits does it take?

Plan on more than one. Eggs are protected from most treatments, so a follow-up timed to the hatch is part of the job rather than a sign something went wrong. Your plan will say how many visits are included and when they happen.

What do I need to do before treatment?

You will get a written prep list, and following it is the difference between a treatment that works and one that has to be repeated. It typically covers laundering bedding and clothing on high heat, clearing floors and closets for access, and keeping treated items separate afterwards so nothing gets reintroduced.

Will my neighbours know?

Not from us. In apartments, condos and hotels we schedule discreetly and keep the visit low-profile, which is also why property managers use us for units where confidentiality matters.
